Indore Set to Launch Its First Double-Decker Bus Soon

The mayor of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, said on Sunday that a double-decker bus service would soon be launched, saying it would be the first for a tier-two city in the nation.

According to Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, the bus will be dedicated to the public following testing runs and route finalization.

“After long-standing efforts, we have successfully brought the double-decker bus to Indore. The wait is over for the city residents,” Bhargava said.

With a capacity to carry 60 passengers, the bus will be operated by Atal Indore City Transport Services Limited (AICTSL), he said.

According to Bhargava, it is the first bus of its kind in Madhya Pradesh and any tier-two city nationwide.

The mayor stated that if the service proves effective in the city, more of these buses will be purchased. Currently, only one of these buses has been transported to Indore and will be in operation once the route is finalized in a week.
